If you have landed on this page, most likely you are searching for some help and answers for your child. You most likely are looking for someone to come alongside you to problem solve and help your child reach their maximum potential. Maybe they are struggling within your family dynamics, at school, or interactions and friendships with peers. You may be noticing that everyday activities are far more difficult for them than other children.
At Nature’s Path Occupational Therapy (OT), we believe in a team approach that includes intentional and highly specialized treatment programming. Every child and family has their own unique needs. Your child is wonderfully made, with a plan and a purpose, and it is our desire to unlock that potential.
By choosing Nature’s Path, you are saying yes to a unique 1:1 treatment model. You will be embracing the theory that the specialized skills of an occupational therapist combined with nature connectedness greatly enhances your child’s progress.
Nature’s Path busts down the walls of traditional clinic based occupational therapy and takes treatment 100% outdoors, no matter the weather (rain, snow, or shine). We believe that each season provides unique activities to work on treatment goals. We embrace the idea that nature is an ideal setting, “it is comfortably welcoming and a bit unpredictable,” (Sobel, D, 2015). A welcoming and unpredictable environment allows your child to work on concrete goals in the real world that surrounds them.
Here are just a handful of things that we may address in treatment sessions:
Overall coordination with body movements
Improving functional fine motor and gross motor skills
Processing and making sense of the sensory world around them (auditory, visual, taste, smell, body position, movement, touch, and emotional/social)
Techniques to improve and communicate inner emotions
Initiating, following directions, attending and completing tasks
Interacting in social situations
Increasing competence and confidence for daily tasks
Treatment session are held at Giant Springs and are led by a skilled occupational therapist
At Nature’s Path we have created a direct access model. It is a model designed to provide you with close interaction, collaboration, and problem solving with your occupational therapist.
